Do we sense a theme beginning...

Michael headed up to the lab last night (with Keeyoon and Richard M.) in hopes that the weather would clear up enough to make some lidar measurements. He ran for a few hours until the cloud to the south moved up the mountain and decided to stay the night. There may be some good measurements within the four hours that he operated the DIAL.

It was cloudy when we headed up to the lab and we found the lab trapped in a nice cloud of ice fog. The sky was not too cloudy overhead but it looked questionable on the horizon. The winds were fairly high, which produced drifting snow later in the day.

Jennifer and Tom worked on setting up automatic processing of the SPS data. Tomorrow they will start to analyse the data collected so far. Clive continued to work with the MAESTRO to optimize its operation on the roof. The MAESTRO and SPS need Sun at a high enough solar zenith angle to finish the alignment process.

DOAS and SAOZ had another "frost-free" day taking measurements from their domes. I was able to send some SAOZ data to Florence and we are working on automating the transfer of data by ftp. Annemarie continued her data processing work.

Richard M. continued training Paul in the operation of the DA8. There was enough clear sky between 11 AM and noon to track the Sun and take a few measurements. The DA8 took two sets of specta before the Sun disappeared into cloud. PARIS was on the bench for more testing so it did not have a chance to take any measurements. In the afternoon, we reinstalled it on its platform and I realigned the instrument with the globar.

Keith took a "day off" at the station and spent some time discussing logistics issues for CANDAC and SEARCH with Rai, the Station Program Manager.

The evening ozonesone was launched with a Raven balloon and reached a height of 6.1 mbar. I came closest with a guess of 6.0 mbar!

Best regards,
Kaley.
