It was the worst of nights, it was the best of days...

All was not happy in "DIAL-land" last night. Michael ended up opting for sleep because the "weather station" up at the lab (Richard M. and Keeyoon observing from the landing at the side door) was reporting constant ice crystals. As morning came, there was low cloud and haze in the fjord and we were hoping it would be clear up top.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that our wishes had come true. It was mainly clear when we got up top. The temperature at the lab had warmed up to -40 C overnight and it was still -48 C down at the station. The frost situation was much improved with the increase in temperature and having fewer people in the lab. SAOZ had a little bit of frost in the corners of the window and DOAS was completely clear. Needless to say, Annemarie and I were quite happy that we did not have to clean the dome windows off this morning.

DOAS and SAOZ had a good day of zenith sky measurements. The SZA angle almost reached 85 degrees. MAESTRO and SPS took direct Sun observations near local apparent noon and spent the rest of the day in zenith sky mode. Annemarie and Jennifer worked on data analysis for the day. Richard M., Keeyoon and Paul had a good day of solar observations. They measured from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Both PARIS and the DA8 took 20 sets of interferograms.

The daily ozonesonde was launched at 19:45 UTC to better coordinate with an ACE overpass. The satellite occultation at 21:16 UTC was about 98 km away from AStrO/PEARL. The Raven balloon reached a height of 6.1 mbar and I came closest with a guess of 6.0 mbar.

Best regards,
Kaley.
