Almost sunny

It was almost sunny today. Sunny enough to make measurements, but not sunny enough to make good ones. Still, we tried anyway! Things looked less hopeless in the UV-Vis lab, as those instruments ticked along nicely and analysis of the data coming out of SAOZ, UT-GBS, MAESTRO and SPS looked really good. Clive’s tracker is also actively tracking, which we’re all happy to see.

Today was also busy in other ways. It was Asan’s birthday, and Marg made him a couple of great black forest gateaux. He was serenaded all the way to the lab by Tobias and Tom, after a bit of a delayed start for Astro 2 as Pierre made network adjustments to survive the U of T Physics Department power outage. And to make his day perfect, Asan also won our ozonesonde pool, betting 9.2 hPa (the balloon made it to 12.2 hPa or 29 km).

We were also fortunate to experience a complete lunar eclipse today (of which we saw half, thanks to the local topography). It was very magical to see the moon go through all its phases one after the other in just a few hours. Our attempts to photograph it are on our website… check them out.

And being Saturday night, there’s no shortage of entertainment in the metropolis of Eureka… we had a fantastic turnout at Pilates, and to start the evening in a great way - it’s BINGO!
