When
everybody was talking about the cold over breakfast yesterday morning,
we
knew we were in for it -- if the Eureka pro's are impressed by the
cold, I'm afraid!
The temperature at the station hovered around
-49C for the last couple days, reaching -50C last night. Stacy
and I couldn't get over how
the
tiny walk from the garage to the weather station could sting our faces
and made us cough. I've never felt anything like it.
Needless to say, none of us have been opting for an evening walks
around
the
station...
Although the cold has limited our time outdoors, we've all had plenty
to do indoors. Emily and Bernard spent last two nights at the lab
taking measurements with the DIAL lidar. During the days, I've
been worked on
prep
for MAX-DOAS measurements, while Stacy has packed up a good portion of
the
many-many small pieces of the DA-8. Although things are
going
well for now, we hope that it warms up soon -- before we have brave the
outdoors to install campaign instruments on the PEARL roof.
