It was
yet another glorious measurement day today with crystal clear skies and
light winds. At PEARL, Matt, Bill and James finally got the sewage pipe
cleared. Thanks guys - that was quite the nasty job! A huge extra
thanks to Matt for scrubbing the entire lab with bleach when it was
done. The most likely explanation for the blockage seems to have been
that the pipes froze, so we're just keeping our fingers crossed that it
won't happen again.
Back at the station, we're enjoying the short lull in the number of
people around... right now there are about 30, but as of Monday or
Tuesday it will be up over 60 when the Rangers arrive. The station
staff are in full preparation mode: filling water tanks, moving fuel
and baking up a storm.
For those of you who still have instruments up here, I'll be packing up
the instruments on Tuesday and Wednesday for our plane out on Thursday.
If you have any last minute requests or instructions, please send them
to me ASAP.
