The sun
emerged from the clouds shortly after the team got up to the lab today.
Felicia was able to start PARIS in automatic mode, collecting 42
spectra before the clouds came in mid-afternoon. We had a little more
frustration with the Bruker, as its detector selector motor decided to
act up again. Our troubleshooting attempts did eventually result in
convincing it to keep limping on for another day, but for most of the
measurements today, Rodica operated manually, even venting the
instrument, switching between detectors by hand, and evacuating the
instrument to continue measurements a couple of times. We thought her
25 measurements today were an excellent effort!
Cristen also had a productive day, running both GBSs in BrO mode for a
comparison. Maestro, the SPS and SAOZ continued to function
happily.
It was another nice evening, with just a small amount of wind. The
ozonesonde launch was again very smooth, with the sonde reaching 5.3
hPa.
Evening entertainment included a walk to the 80N sign, some work, and
challenging the UNCLOS and station staff to games of pool and
table-tennis.
Emily and Bernard are trying to revert to day-shift so they can work at
the lab with us for the next couple of days, so we also enjoyed having
them around for the evening.
