Getting ready for the Sun

Today was our third day at work. We headed up to PEARL hoping to see the sun today. It didn’t happen. The sun smiled to us for a few minutes through the clouds, just enough that we could align our mirrors for the upcoming measurements. We both (Felicia and Rodica) also did more tests on our instrument’s mid infrared source. Cristen had a successful day. She finished testing the UT-GBS and she left it overnight to take measurements. Happy with their tests from yesterday, Volodya and Tom moved the SPS and MAESTRO outside of the lab, up to the roof. Emily dismantled the old depolarization unit and replaced it with the new one. Zen cleaned the sensors and further tested the stirling cooler. It was a full day for everyone -- the dinner was pretty quiet.

Since we have -45 degrees C with the wind chill, the hockey game was cancelled. We’ll stay inside tonight watching our team play against the German team. Good luck Canada!
