A day of repairs and cloud cover

We woke up to one of the warmest days yet, a beautiful -23 (which now feels like a wonderful summer day). Unfortunately it was overcast from dusk to dawn, and as the wind picked up things got a little colder. Despite the cloud cover and a couple colds floating around within the team, a lot of work was accomplished!

At 0PAL, Emily worked on installing and aligning the new depolarization channel for the RMR CANDAC LIDAR. Zen ran thermal contact tests for the E-AERI's Stirling Cooler; it was determined that the cooler tip's Bellow was stuck and needs to be re-installed.

At PEARL, Rodica and Felicia worked on analysis of Bruker/PARIS FTS data as they waited for the sun, while Cristen repaired the UT-GBS’ shutters and re-aligned the instrument.

On a short walk after dinner, Emily, Cristen, Keith and Zen ran into a rather friendly arctic hare that wasn't afraid to come close as it dug through the snow for food. Tonight everyone at the station is going to watch the semi-final Olympic hockey game – a Canada vs. USA gold medal game is what we all want to see!
