Today was a wonderfully warm day in Eureka! The skies were clear, the weather warmed up to -36, and there was almost no wind.
At PEARL, Rodica took 68 MIR and 35 NIR measurements with the Bruker, Felicia took 58 MIR measurements with PARIS, and Cristen took measurements with both the UT-GBS and PEARL-GBS. At the end of PEARL-GBS' measurement schedule, Cristen removed it from the penthouse on the roof of PEARL in order to prepare it for tests tomorrow. Zen joined the PEARL team today, working on the SFIT-2 retrieval code for E-AERI spectra, getting help from Felicia and Rodica (thank you!). The weather up at PEARL was a wonderful -10deg C, allowing a group of us to take a short hike around the facility.
At 0PAL, Emily spent the morning maximizing the amount of light entering the new depolarization channel. She continued to work on the CANDAC RMR LIDAR until late tonight with Graeme (off-site) on further tests to the new channel.
After dinner, Cristen, Keith and Zen played a full round of Frisbee golf (thanks to the slightly warmer weather). Later on in the night, a large group of us watched another movie; 'The Thing', which - ironically - takes place at an Antarctic research station.
