Today was yet another sunny day in Eureka without a cloud in the sky. Temperatures reached the lowest so far in 2010, hitting -44 at the weather station, but at least there was practically no wind.
At PEARL, Felicia took 58 MIR measurements with PARIS while Rodica took 67 MIR and 30 NIR measurements with the Bruker. Cristen installed new input optics for the PEARL-GBS, which improve the instrument’s resolution. After testing the new optics, she installed the PEARL-GBS in the penthouse, where it’s currently operating in ozone/NO2 zenith sky mode.
At 0PAL, Emily completed work on the CANDAC RMR LIDAR’s laser optics. She then installed the sensor wires for the temperature sensor module and achieved communication with the computer. Zen did further desiccant checks on the E-AERI’s front-end compartment, opening it up for the first time in months, and made revisions to the instrument’s manual.
With the sun staying up longer these days, some of the PEARL team stayed late at the lab to continue taking measurements. Everyone has a lot of work to catch up on tonight, so while there are no Olympics or Oscars to entertain us we look forward to tomorrow night’s film that, unbelievably, Cristen has never seen – The Dark Knight!
