Back to full measurement strength

Eureka and the Ridge Lab returned to solar measurement-friendly clear skies once more. The Eureka Weather Station enjoyed temperatures of -30°C. The Ridge Lab was impressively warm, at -19°C. Since there had been considerable snowfall yesterday, the team had to wait for the Eureka Weather Station crew to clear the road. We began measurements 2 hours later than usual as a result.

Paul re-started SPS and MAESTRO, which restored them to normal operations.

Emily joined the Ridge Lab team today to get a refresher lesson on each of the instruments. Emily and Pierre will be the extended phase campaign team starting next Tuesday. She had a perfectly clear and sunny day to practice setting up the suntracker, taking measurements, and changing the Bruker's beamsplitter.

In the PEARL Ridge Lab's IR lab, Joseph, Emily, and Dan took 28 MIR and 66 NIR measurements with the Bruker. Debora took 40 spectra with PARIS.

Over in the UV-Vis Lab, the UT-GBS, PEARL-GBS, and SAOZ worked smoothly today. Xiaoyi noticed the suntracker didn't find the Sun correctly this morning. With help from Paul, he opened PEARL-GBS' suntracker dome to double check that it was level. It was. Xiaoyi discovered the new Trax2 computer had unexpectedly moved its time by one hour. After he reset the time on Trax2, Xiaoyi's suntracker returned to normal operation. Xiaoyi also performed tests using different CCD settings on both UT-GBS and PEARL-GBS, attempting to find another solution for the high signal level issue.

Once Emily felt confident in all instrument operations at the Ridge Lab, Dan, Debora, Emily, and Paul went for an epic walk north of the Ridge Lab. Dan will post a collection of photos so you can share part of our wonderful experience.

Down at 0PAL, Chris ran the lidar overnight and throughout the day.
