Temperatures at PEARL dropped 10°C to -26°C today. That's still warmer than Eureka, which remained near -40°C. Unlike previous days, however, the Ridge Lab didn't avoid the clouds overhead, which unfortunately obscured the sun.
In the PEARL Ridge Lab's IR lab, solar measurements were not possible in the morning due to clouds. Anthony successfully tested connecting and controlling the suntracker remotely from Toronto, following Joseph's SOP document. In the afternoon, there was a limited window of time when the sun reached through the clouds. Dan took 23 MIR measurements with the Bruker remotely from his laptop. Joseph ran the suntracker remotely through his laptop. Dan also took 18 measurements with PARIS.
Over in the UV-Vis Lab, Sophie and Xiaoyi (working remotely from Toronto using Skype) tested the remote control of UT-GBS and PEARL-GBS. Everything worked perfectly! Sophie also performed final stray light and polarization tests on the PEARL-GBS.
SPS, MAESTRO, and the Brewer continued to operate nominally.
Down at 0PAL, the CRL took 24 hours of measurements for the 8th consecutive day.
Today's ACE ozonesonde flight was launched at 6:15 PM (local time) and reached an altitude of 21 938 meters (37.6 hPa).
