Today in Eureka, temperatures were -38°C. Ice crystals and clouds filled the sky, although there was 24 km visibility. The PEARL Ridge Lab experienced temperatures of -26°C, but it felt like -40°C with the windchill.
In the PEARL Ridge Lab's IR lab, Anthony attempted to run remote Bruker measurements from Toronto. The internet connection was insufficient for the task, and he lost the ability to send and receive commands to the suntracker. After 45 minutes of trying, and Paul's reset of the network, the attempt was aborted and measurements were run locally. Joseph and Dan took 47 MIR measurements with the Bruker. Dan took 45 measurements with PARIS. Solar measurement time was limited by cloudy conditions. NIR Bruker measurements will be started soon; however, Joseph is waiting for conditions to be clear.
Over in the UV-Vis Lab, Sophie performed tests on PEARL-GBS suntracker computer. The fan had died, which could cause problems for remote measurements. Sophie improved the ventilation of the computer, and confirmed with several tests that overheating will not become an issue. UT-GBS, PEARL-GBS and SAOZ are all taking measurements and running smoothly.
