April 1 was an overcast day, –32.7°C, –48°C with windchill, so Darby bundled up and headed over to 0PAL to inspect the Pandora’s viewing direction closely.
Petra recruited a new lab assistant with an impressive resume and got some work done on the sun tracker system on the roof.
Kevin could not tell whether the GBS dome was frosted using the camera, so he decided to check from the inside because it was such a cold day. He got (temporarily) stuck. We had to ask Petra’s assistant to help Kevin get out of the dome.
At the end of the day, the team helped with the weather balloon launch but forgot to let go and are now projected to land at the NDACC site in Thule, Greenland. Pierre is on his way in the CANDAC truck with Petra’s assistant to retrieve them.
Happy April Fools Day,
Kevin, Petra, and Darby
