The sky was clear on March 28, so Petra made FTIR measurements in the NIR and MIR while at the Ridge Lab. Kevin worked on network mapping the UV-Vis Lab at the Ridge Lab and helped Pierre set up a radio antenna on the roof.
On March 30 and 31, both cloudy days, the team worked from the Weather Station. Petra spent time writing scripts to backup data and streamline workflow. She also finished network mapping for the IR Lab. Darby finalized the position of the webcam pointing at the E-AERI hatch and the internal parts of the E-AERI instrument and chose a location for the interim camera for the Pandora at 0PAL. With Pierre’s help, both cameras were mounted.
Kevin launched the 00:00GMT radiosonde on March 28th and Petra launched the 00:00GMT radiosonde on March 29th. We had a friendly competition to see whose balloon would go the highest and cheered as we watched the data from Petra’s launch live stream to the Met Tech computer.
On March 31, it was -30.9deg C, with wind chill of -46 deg C, and overcast, so Kevin and Darby made a walking expedition from the Weather Station to the 80deg North sign, about 3km each way, to take pictures. We enjoyed the 2.5 hour walk, even though our cameras were eventually too cold to take photos. Thank goodness for our Arctic gear!
Cheers,
